Get to know Sandra Owens!

A best selling, award winning author, Sandra Owens lives in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Her family and friends often question her sanity, but have ceased being surprised by what she might get up to next. She’s jumped out of a plane, flown in an aerobatic plane while the pilot performed death-defying stunts, has flown Air Combat (two fighter planes dogfighting, pretending to shoot at each other with laser guns), and rode a Harley motorcycle for years. She regrets nothing.

A member of Romance Writers of America’s Honor Roll, Sandra is a 2013 Golden Heart® Finalist for her contemporary romance, CRAZY FOR HER. In addition to her contemporary romantic suspense novels, she writes Regency stories.

Jack of Hearts

Cover - Jack of HeartsThere are three brothers, all bad to the bone and as deadly as the venom of an asp. Dressed in black leathers—reflective sunglasses hiding their eyes—their Harleys rumble a warning to beware as they pass by. Mothers pull their children close at the sight of them, bad girls just sigh, and the good girls never expect to fall in love with one of them.

Alex, Court, and Nate Gentry ride the edge of two worlds, that of the criminals who would just as soon kill them as not, and the one on the side of the law. As deep undercover agents for the FBI, the last thing they need or want, is to fall in love. To the brothers, love is a dangerous emotion; one they have no time for. To infiltrate Miami’s criminal underworld, they open a biker bar, Aces & Eights. They plan to earn acceptance by the scum of society, but they fail to plan for the women who invade each of their lives.

JACK OF HEARTS is the youngest brother’s (Alex) story. As Alex investigates a Miami drug cartel, he falls for the one woman off-limits to him, his target’s cousin, Madison. He absolutely must resist her . . . well, you know how that goes!

Now for the crazy interview portion of this interview!

 1. You’ve written soldiers and FBI undercover agents. What is it about these tough guys that draws you the most (besides the muscles, LOL!)?

Yeah, those muscles get me every time! Military and law enforcement males tend to be alphas, and those men really fascinate me. I love creating a big and strong, dominate man who doesn’t believe in love. Even though he doesn’t see it, he has a soft heart. Especially for “her”, the woman he didn’t know he needed until he realizes he can’t live without her.

2. What excites you most about your current work-in-progress?

That as I write this, I’m only 5,000 words from finishing the first draft? LOL Seriously, though, the third book in the Aces & Eights series, ACE OF SPADES, is a friends to lovers trope, one of my favorites. Nate Gentry is doing his best to resist his closest friend and fellow FBI agent, Taylor Collins. It was a lot of fun to write about the sexual tension simmering between them that they both try to ignore.

3.  You like high-risk alpha heroes. What types of heroines draw you the most?

She’s comfortable in her own skin, has a career, and isn’t afraid to go after what she wants, especially when what she wants is “him”. She can see past his tough exterior to his soft heart, even though he doesn’t believe he has one of those. She’s the one woman in the world who can tame him, something she believes deep in her heart.

4. You’re pretty open on Facebook about not cooking, and about how good a cook Mr. O is. What’s your favorite meal that your wonderful husband cooks for you? (And for those of us who aren’t as lucky, how did you finagle him into doing most of the cooking? 😛 )

Yes, my family could write a book titled, “Sandra’s Kitchen Disasters”, and they love to tell my cooking stories to anyone who’ll listen. At our favorite restaurant one night, the waitress served us a basket of burnt bread. The owner came over and said to Mr. O, “We thought you’d feel more at home if we burned your bread.” Ha ha!

I have two favorite meals that Mr. O makes for me. The first one is very simple. He makes the best French toast in the world! We’ll have it for dinner with a side of fresh fruit. So yummy. My other favorite is our Christmas Eve dinner. It’s been a long-held tradition for him to make me steak Diane and twice baked potatoes for Christmas Eve. He even flambés the steaks, and it’s so pretty to see them on fire while I’m just sitting and watching while having a glass of wine.

And yes, I’m keeping him!
