I’m so excited about this month when we get to explore authors we want you to enjoy as much as we do. On behalf of Taige and my other side McKenna Jeffries 🙂 More on why I post as McKenna too http://bit.ly/2ivImS3. Are to ready to get to know more about today’s guest?
Welcome to the Nice Girls Writing Naughty version of the A-Z Challenge! Today’s featured guest author is Aliyah Burke.
Here’s a little more about Aliyah:
Aliyah Burke is an avid reader and is never far from pen and paper (or the computer). She loves to hear from her readers and can be reached here . She can also be found on Facebook or https://twitter.com/AliyahBurke96.
She is happily married to a career military man. They are owned by four Borzoi. She spends her days sharing time between work, writing, and dog training.
And here’s her interview:
Tell us a little about your newest release.
My newest book is actually a rerelease. The Detective’s Lover is the first in a series on The Maddoxes. It is the story of the only sister of the foster children, Fallon Maddox. She’s a bit unorthodox as she served in the military but hates guns. She returns home for her foster father’s funeral and the story goes from that point on. She’s been raised with four brothers, who all drive her crazy and protect her.
The hero of the story is the detective who is investigating her father’s murder.
What story first hooked you as a reader?
In our family we read every night, or when we were younger they were being read to us. So for me it would be a toss up between Chronicles of Narina series or Little House on the Prairie series.
When did you know you first HAD to write?
It would have been in college when the voices just wouldn’t shut up. I hated writing in high school but when I hit college, they just grew loud in my head.
What excites you most about your current work-in-progress?
I’m working on a novella for a Kindleworld series by an author I’m a huge fan of and it’s just such an honor to be allowed to write for her world.
Introvert or Extrovert? How does this affect your work?
Introvert for sure. It makes conferences and the like difficult for me, but I look at it as a good way for me to push my boundaries and get out of my comfort zone.
How do you deal with real-life distractions (job, kids, cats, birds chirping…)?
I write around them. My husband is real wonderful about respecting my writing time. He handles the dogs when I’m doing that so they don’t need me to stop and pay attention to them. I typically have music playing while I write since I love music. I have a hard time writing when it’s completely silent.
What’s your morning beverage of choice?
While it used to be coffee, I’m not supposed to be drinking that anymore so I would say juice. Typically, a grapefruit/cranberry mix.
I hope you enjoyed today’s visit with the letter B… You can find out more about Aliyah Burke at these places around the web:
