It’s April 1st! Which means, it’s the start of the A-Z Challenge. Over the next month, you’ll be reading posts from me and my fellow Nice Girls Writing Naughty. We’ll share tips, news, recipes, excerpts – basically anything that’s fun for us and that we think you’ll enjoy.
For today, I figured I’d share a little about why I like challenges and then ask you, Dear Reader, a question. First, my challenges:
- I started writing Morning Pages, an idea of Julia Cameron’s (author of the Artist’s Way) back in my early 20’s (so, last week). It’s three pages of longhand writing a day.
- I’m working on incorporating more steps into my daily round: my goal is 12,000 steps a day, but I’m averaging between 5,000 and 10,000 right now.
- I joined a gym challenge in December, where I won a free gym membership for one month, by going to the gym for 25 days in a row between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- This month, of course, it’s the A-Z Challenge.
I find challenges motivate me to do new things, and to incorporate habits into my daily round that I want to develop. Healthy eating, writing, movement – all of these can be helped by challenges because I get the support of others doing the same things.
What about you, Dear Reader? What motivates you to make positive changes?
– E.E. Cummings
