A Is For… Abracadabra!

Good morning!  I’m A. Catherine Noon and I’m here to kick off the A-Z Blogging Challenge with the Nice Girls, Writing Naughty!  We promise to behave ourselves for the challenge, and to bring you some fun, some thoughtful posts, and something new to read.  So sit back, get a cuppa, and join us for the Challenge.

Today is A, the first letter in the English alphabet.  I picked Abracadabra as my theme today because magic is in the air.  It’s Spring, which is pretty magical – how to the plants know to start growing, year after year?  How does the sun know to return and warm us up?  And, frankly, since I’m in Chicago, I want to know that the sun does know to return, right?  Sheesh.  Weird weather here, I’m tellin’ ya.  But words themselves are magical – they transport us to new places, open our minds to new ideas, and even connect us across the miles to friends we’ve only met online.

What about you, Dear Reader?  What’s your favorite word today – magical or not?

Hi Noony! My favorite word today is April–it’s sunny here and finally looks like this new month will be bringing Spring!

Hi, Nona! You know, as I sit here in front of a nice sunny window, I couldn’t agree more!

Hmmm… at this time of the night, I’d say ALONE. 🙂 Kids are in bed, and I can think for a few minutes. Being alone can often be magical for an author, in the silence is when you can focus and channel your characters.

Y’know, I’m finding that much more valuable the older I get. I used to like a lot of social interaction. Lately, I’ve been clearing my calendar so I can have vast uninterrupted swaths. 🙂

    Hello there Catherine,
My favorite magical word doesn’t start with an A but it’s gratitude. There are times I have to remember that I have more than I don’t have .Thanks for making me think about that…Happy First day of April 🙂

Ooh. That’s a great word for magicalness! (If magicalness is a word – grin.)

        I think I like magicalness…even though autocorrect doesn’t. LOL

      2. A. Catherine Noon says:

        Auto-correct and I are not friends. ~grin~

Does it have to be an A word? Tranquil would be my word if not. If I have to choose an A word, I’ll go with Altruism. We need a little more of that in the world!

    Very true;).
