Wednesday’s Wild Ride Around the Web with Aunt Noony – Day Four of the Keepsake Tour

emeraldkeepAs part of the celebration of the release of our newest book, Emerald Keep, Rachel and I are holding a month-long festival and drawing.  We decided that since we write as Noon and Wilder, we should have two grand prizes.  I made a handknit scarf and Rachel crocheted one.  It’s been a lot of fun to do, and something magical happened when I was making the scarf:  it seemed to cast a spell that made the world of the book more real.

We got the idea from a conference we attended.  One of the authors at the book-signing had a restaurant in her popular mystery series.  She had special mugs made with the logo of her imaginary diner.  It was brilliant!  Rachel was so enchanted by them that she went over and struck up a conversation with the author.  After the singing finished, the author came over and handed Rachel a mug as a gift.  She made a friend for life!

I don’t know that we’ll make something by hand for our next book release, but it’s been a fun experience so far.  We’ll have to put our heads together for the next one and see what we might make.

So I ask you, Dear Reader, what kinds of gifts would you like if you could ask your favorite author to make something for you?

I guess The Pig from The Raven Cycle (Maggie Stiefvater) would be nice 😉 Great post!
